Installation on VMWare
The following instructions will show how to create an iQCloud Virtual Appliance on a VMware ESX server using the vCenter desktop client. Please contact the iQuate support team if you require assistance with any alternative deployment methods.
Appliance Download
You will be able to download the VMware virtual appliance image through the iQCloud console under the help menu (Help → Download Virtual Appliance). This link should always have the most up to date version of the appliance available.
Once you have downloaded the zip file containing the virtual appliance image you will need to save to a known location accessible by your vCenter console and unzip the file to create the .ova file required by vCenter.
Appliance Install
To install the virtual appliance you will need to first log into the VMware vSphere for the server you will deploy the appliance to. You will also need to ensure that the account has the required permissions to be able to create new VMs.
Log in to the vSphere Client
Select File → Deploy OVF Template
Browse to the .ova file saved in the Appliance Download steps and click “Next”.
Verify the “.ova” template details that you are about to deploy and select “Next”
Enter a name for your appliance and select the location within your network to deploy to and select “Next”.
Ensure the selected datastore has the required minimum disk space available.
Select an appropriate disk format according to your policies
Review and verify the deployment settings and click “Finish”
When the appliance is successfully created the confirmation pop-up will be displayed and will be displayed in the list of virtual machines deployed on the ESX server in VMware vSphere client interface.
In the deployed virtual machines list, right click on the appliance server and select “Edit Settings…”
Navigate to “VMware Tools” and “check” the option “Synchronize guest time with host”
You are now ready to power on your new virtual appliance
In the deployed virtual machines list, right click on the appliance server and select “Power” → “Power On”
You are now ready to configure your iQCloud Virtual Appliance.
Please proceed to the Appliance Configuration page.
