AWS Route Table settings for VM

Connection settings for VM’s created in HCP to come to the connected state

  1. Ensure that the route table associated with the Subent / VPC of Virtual Machines created in HCP has a route 0.0.0.0/0 associated with an internet gateway.

For adding a route as specified/highlighted -

  1. Create a new Intenet Gateway

  2. Associate the Intenet Gateway to the VPC linked to VM created in HCP (Go to Action > Attach to VPC)

  3. Go to the Route table associated with the subnet / VPC

    1. Click on the Routes tab and Add a new route using the Edit Route

      b. Add Route 0.0.0.0/0 and specify the new internet gateway as Target, Save the route.

  4. Ensure the route table has the subnet association

  5. Also, ensure that the Subnet has the Auto-assign public IPv4 address Enabled.

    1. To check this, go to the associated subnet to the virtual machine

    2. Go to Action > Modify auto-assign IP Settings

    3. Ensure the setting is enabled - Enable Auto-assign public IPv4 address
