Tenant Creation and Assignment
Overview
This page guides you through the process of creating a new tenant, as well as managing existing tenants.
Create a New Tenant
To create a new tenant:
Login to HCP as a Cloud Administrator (CA).Â
Navigate to tenant page from Administration > Tenant Management.
Â
Click on Add New Tenant to go to tenant set up wizard.
Â
Add the required information.
Â
Select the intended CSP Customer to be linked with the tenant. [1]
Â
Select the customer to be linked to tenant and click on Save. [2]
Notes:
[1] By selecting partner company from the drop-down, all the customers under the partner account will get populated in the customer combo-box.
[2] The newly created tenant will be a part of the tenant listing with customer information to which the tenant is linked.
This CSP-tenant can now login to have access to the CSP tenant dashboard, and view spend and usage cost data along with the recommendations under optimization tab.
Link Existing Tenant to a CSP customer
Note:
Currently, HCP allows a CSP customer to be linked to a tenant only once, either at tenant creation time or from tenant edit (if that tenant has not been linked previously).
One CSP customer can only be linked to a single tenant.
To link an existing tenant to a CSP customer:
Login to your HCP account.
Go to tenant page from Administration > Tenant Management > Click on a tenant from the list which is not linked to any customer.
Edit tenant details as required.
Select the customer to be linked and click on Save.
Un-Link Existing CSP-Tenant
In case a tenant has been created and a CSP customer has been wrongly assigned to tenant, the CA can free the customer from tenant binding only after a tenant has been deleted.
A tenant is also a user but with a Tenant role as it's identification, deleting a tenant has conditions and needs to be in the Ready to Delete state.
To unlink an existing CSP-Tenant:
Login to HCP as the CA.
Go to Administration > IAM > Local Users.
Â
From users list select the tenant user and click Delete from context menu.
Â
This will open a User Delete window and the CA can see the if the user is ready for Delete. Once the deletion criteria is clean, the CA can click on the Delete button. [1]
Once a tenant user is deleted go back to the tenant page from  Administration > Tenant Management > Click on the tenant to be deleted and this will open up the deletion window.
Â
Delete the tenant if all the tenant deletion criteria are green (Ready to Delete Tenant).
Â
Click on the Delete button. The previously linked customer will be available again while creating a new Tenant from the tenant creation wizard.
Â
Note:
[1] Tenant deletion is a set of multiple steps to remove all the dependencies on the tenant which he would have created like provisioning, user creation and other tasks. So before deleting a tenant user, all these criteria must be checked.
