Governance using Resource Pools & Quota
Overview
The HyperCloud™ Platform (HCP) allows Tenant administrators to administer resource governance practices like Resource Entitlement, Restriction, and Budgeting. This document guides you through the following processes:
Create Quota
To create quota for your tenancy:
Login to your HCP account.
Navigate to Service Orchestration > Quota Management > Quotas > Click on New. This will initiate a quota creation wizard.
Select the cloud provider for which you wish to create a resource for the tenant. Click on Next.
Select the desired availability zone. Click on Next.
Â
Specify the name for the quota and select the quota type (i.e., Restricted or Open).
If you select the Restricted quota, you need to specify the Spend limit, vCPU, Memory and storage details.
If you select Open quota, Tenant Admin can still govern usage by specifying per-user quota on resource pools.Â
Click on Next.
Â
Click on Save to create a cloud resource.
Once your Quota is created, you can update them anytime. Permitted edits are:
Adding Virtual private Clouds (VPCs).
Deleting the resource (You cannot delete a Quota if it is being actively used by tenant users).
Create Resource Pools from Quota
Your tenant administrator can divide a Quota into resource pools and distribute it among Tenants. To create a Resource Pool for your users:
Login to your HCP account.
Navigate to Service Orchestration > Quota Management > Resource Pools > New. Clicking on New launches the Resource Pool Creation wizard.
Select the Quota from which you want to create a Resource Pool.
Enter a name for your Resource Pool in the input text box. Click on Next.
Set the Resource Pool Quota.
You cannot create a resource pool with values greater than the original quota. In this case, HCP will notify an error as shown in the image.
Click on Next.
HCP allows administrators to configure alerts for resource usage triggers.
You can specify multiple trigger values for spend vCPU, Memory and disk.
You can also specify the desired notification options like ‘Email’ or ‘System alert.’
Click on Next.
Finally, you can entitle this resource pool to your tenant users. You can opt to specify specific users or groups as well.
Click on Save to complete the wizard.
