Overview

This topic describes the steps to create a new storage class using the HyperCloud™ Platform (HCP)

A StorageClass provides a way for administrators to describe the “classes” of storage they offer. Different classes might map to quality-of-service levels, or to backup policies, or to arbitrary policies determined by the cluster administrators. Kubernetes itself is unopinionated about what classes represent. This concept is sometimes called “profiles” in other storage systems.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure:

  • Kubernetes Cluster is pre-deployed and the status is running
  • You are entitled to the Kubernetes Cluster

  • At least one namespace is available.

Create a Storage Class

To create storage class:

  1. Click on the Kubernetes cluster and navigate to Storage class > Actions > Enter a Name for the storage class.
  2. Click Save.
