HTTP Error 503 for iQSonar and other "Server Errors"

If you get a HTTP 503 error when trying to connect to iQSonar, it is possible that the Application Pool for the iQSonar UI application is not running

Instructions

In order to verify/restart the service

  1. Log in to the server hosting the Web UI
  2. Open IIS Manager (usually found in Administrative tools)
  3. Look in Application Pools
  4. Find "iQSonar v4.0" and restart it

Please do NOT change any settings under "Basic settings" or "Advanced Settings" without talking to iQuate Support first.

If you encounter "Runtime Error" with little information

This can happen if your database is offline.

Ensure the SQL Server your iQSonar instance relies on is online and accepting connections.

If your IIS configuration is totally corrupted...

The fastest way to "fix" a corrupted IIS installation is as follows

  1. Back up your site key and configuration file
    1. C:\Program Files\iQuate\iQSonar ScanEngine 4.0\iQSonar.key
    2. C:\Program Files\iQuate\iQSonar ScanEngine 4.0\bin\iQuate.iQSonar.ScanEngine.exe.config
  2. Uninstall iQSonar
  3. Delete or move the iQSonar folder C:\Program Files\iQuate\iQSonar ScanEngine 4.0 so that it is no longer present.
This removes the configuration for the UI components which are integrated into IIS
  4. Re-install iQSonar ensuring that you do both the following
    1. Re-use the existing site key (point to the iQSonar.key file you backed up in step 1)
    2. DO NOT start the service
  5. Once the installer completes, copy the iQuate.iQSonar.ScanEngine.exe.config file BACK to the folder C:\Program Files\iQuate\iQSonar ScanEngine 4.0\bin\
  6. Now you can start the service.
