To provision a Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine (VM):

  1. Login to your CMP account.
  2. Navigate to Service Orchestration > Services > VMs > New.

  3. Select the Resource Pool, Resource Group from the respective drop-downs.

    You'll need to define the availability set for your Resource Pool by:
    • Using an Existing Availability Set
    • Creating a New Availability Set 
    • Alternatively, You can skip adding your VM in the desired availability set. 
  4. Select the Hardware Configuration or the VM Size from the dropdown.

  5. Select the Image you want to apply to your VM, from the dropdown.

  6. Select the Subnet for your VM.

  7. If you need to assign a public IP address for the new VM, select the Assign Public IP check box. You can choose between Basic or Standard public IP. Select the Security Group from the dropdown, else the wizard will create a new one for your VM.

  8. The CMP portal manages your VMs via CMP agent installed your VMs. To skip installing the CMP agent on your VM, select the Skip CMP Agent Install check box.

  9. Select the Authentication method for your VM. 

  10. If you are a CMP Administrator, you can create a VM for yourself or for the users.

    If you are a Tenant Administrator, you can create a VM for Users that are entitled to your Resource Pool.

  11. You can configure Advanced settings for your VM based on the table below. This is an optional configuration.

Enter a Name for your VM.

If your CMP Administrator has defined a naming convention for Resource Pools,  this field will be greyed out. VM names will be auto-generated by the CMP portal.


Container Cluster

You can assign a VM to a kubernetes cluster. Adding your nodes to clusters lets you scales your apps.

Lease

You can select the VM Lease duration, after which, the Lease will expire and so will your access to the VM. If your CMP Administrator has configured the VM Lease period for a Resource Pool, your Lease period will be auto-populated.

PluginsSelect Plugins from the drop-down menu. Plugins allow you to customize a newly created VM.
Define a VM Start and Stop ScheduleSelect the check box to define the VM stop and start schedule. Read more about VM Start & Stop Scheduling.
