This topic describes the steps to deploy a Kubernetes Cluster on Google Cloud Platform using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE.)

Ensure that your Google Cloud Resource Pools are available and entitled to the User Id that creates the GKE Cluster.

Deploy a Kubernetes Cluster

  1. Login to your CMP account.
  2. Navigate to Service Orchestration > Services > Containers.
  3. Click Create New Kubernetes Cluster and then click New.

  4. Enter a Name for your Kubernetes Cluster.
  5. Select the following:

    1. Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) from the Target drop-down

    2. Standard from the Type drop-down

    3. Your Cloud Management Platform (CMP) Resource Pool from the Resource Pool(s) drop-down

      If you've chosen:

      • Standard Cluster Type, you'll need to select only one Resource Pool
      • HighAvailability Cluster Type, you'll need two or more Resource Pools that have:
        • Different Availability Zones
        • The same Cloud Regions


    4. Machine Type

      Note

      You'll need to select your machine time, based on the workload.


    5. 3 or higher from the Node Count Per Zone from the drop-down

    6. From the Auto-Scaling section:

      1. Number of Minimum Workers per Pool from the drop-down. 

      2. Number of Maximum Workers per Pool from the drop-down. 
      1. Optionally, you can enable these Entitled Users:

        • Only me (default)

        • Everyone

        • Groups and Users: lets other users deploy Kubernetes Apps to your Cluster

  6. Click Save Changes.
